spring has sprung

We've really been enjoying the flowers blooming around our home the last few weeks. The best part is that I didn't even have to plant them! :) So thanks to whoever owned our home before that planted them. Our rose bushes are just now starting to bloom, so I'll post some of those later.

Whew....this is going to be a long one

Wow! It's been two months since I last posted. I didn't realize it had been that long. So because of that, I'm just going to have to catch you all up on what's been happening around the Lee home.

In February, my friend Cori from CA came for a week long visit. It was so nice having her here, but it wasn't near long enough for me. Fortunately she and the rest of her family are coming back to visit this summer. I can't wait!!! Anyway, here are a few pics of my girls with her baby, Aubrey. I'm so frustrated at myself for not getting any pics of her and me together, but I'll be sure to do that on their next visit.






Something that's been fun for our family (especially our kids) is our neighbor's cats...one in particular. Callie, which is what we named her, started coming over to our house and playing with our kids when she was just little little. Of course, we fell in love with her and "had" to start feeding her. Eventually her mom, Momma Kitty, started coming over too. So we've been having fun playing with "our" cats without the responsibility of actually owning them. :)

In March, on Kevin's birthday to be specific, we had a freak snow storm. The flakes were the biggest I've ever seen. Some of them were the size of a half dollar! It was so pretty, so of course I had to get some pics of it.






At the very end of March, Jessa finally learned how to ride her bike without training wheels! To be honest, it was a little bittersweet for me. I was so excited for her but also a little sad since she's our baby. She actually figured it out in just one day of practicing. Now she's all over the place just like she's always known how. It's been fun to watch. :)






So far in April, we've had some gorgeous days...even into the upper 80s. On one of those days, Hannah and her friend, Karson, decided they wanted to wash the car, and what kind of mom would I be to tell them no?! :) Can't say it's the best wash the car has ever had, but they sure had fun doing it.





And last but not least...we FINALLY got the floor in our living room done!!! We've been living with old, falling apart, splintery wood floors for the past eight months, so it's about time. Thanks to Uncle Sam, we were finally able to buy some flooring for our downstairs. We're just going to do one room at a time and decided to start with the living room. Needless to say, we LOVE it! :)

Girls gymnastics and dance

Hannah and Jessa are taking gymnastics/dance this year and got to have their first chance to show the community at the high school bb games last night. Their routines were shortened versions of what they'll do at their actual recital in April. It was so fun to watch them, especially for me, since I took dance/gymnastics as a child. They had a lot of fun and did a great job! :)

Kids basketball

Nathan and Hannah are playing little league bb and had their first game this past weekend. It really was fun (and sometimes humorous) to watch them. :) They had fun and are excited to play in their next game.

Snow time

A few days ago we got about eight inches of snow. Both of the girls were sick and I really had no desire to play in the snow, so Kevin and Nathan got at it. Nathan could hardly wait to get out in the stuff. One thing we haven't purchased since we've moved back to KS is snow pants and boots. So Nathan wore my old ski pants, and Kevin put together some ghetto snow boots for him. It's amazing what you can do with some wal-mart sacks and duct tape. :) They worked like a charm! Their first project was a snow fort, which according to Nathan, "Was working great until dad messed up the roof". So their next project was an igloo. They had fun playing together in the snow, and I had fun taking pictures. Enjoy the slide show. :)

Barclay homecoming

Jessa was asked to be the flower girl for the Barclay homecoming this year, which actually took place last week. I'm just a little slow in posting about it. :) When we first mentioned it to her, she wanted nothing to do with it. But over time (and with a little persuasion from me) the idea grew on her until she decided that she for sure wanted to do it. Anyway, she ended up doing a great job and had a lot of fun.




The crown bearer was the hilight of the evening. :)
