even the little things

I just have to blog about the prayer that God answered at around 11:30 last night. Last week when I went to visit my friend Angie & her new baby in the hospital, my camera battery died. No big deal right? My plan was to charge it back up when I got home. One problem......the charger wasn't where it was "supposed" to be. So for the past week, I've been searching and researching all over the house for this stupid battery charger that costs about $40 to replace. I know $40 isn't really that big of a deal, but it's just something that I didn't want to pay again to replace something that I couldn't find!

Anyway, as I was getting into bed late last night, I had just laid down and gotten comfortable when I realized that our closet door was wide open. I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't like to leave closet doors open except for when I'm getting something out of them. I'm the same way with my kids' rooms too....I know, I have issues. Anyway, I actually laid there and debated whether to get up or not because I was so comfy under my covers. But my weirdness prevailed, and I got up to shut the door. Well.....as I was arranging some things before I shut the door, I noticed something black and square out of the corner of my eye. When I looked again, I realized it was my charger....in my closet on top of my scrapbook case of all places! I was so excited that I ran downstairs to show Kevin (he'd been helping me look too). Then I crawled back into bed and thanked the Lord for answering even our small and insignificant requests. :)

playday 2009

This past Friday was our annual Haviland Playday...the 81st to be exact. For those who don't know what that is, I'll give a short explanation. It's basically a day where the whole community comes out to play....all day. :) The morning is filled with races for all ages from preschool up to grandparents. They have tricycle, bike, and running races. The most fun ones are where the parents and grandparents get to run with their kids and grandkids. They're always good for a laugh or two. :) There are other activities throughout the afternoon, and then it always ends with the high school homecoming football game that evening. Anyway, it's a really fun day for the whole community. Because I grew up here, I got to take part in playday every year. I've really missed it, so it was so much fun for my kids to finally be a part of it and start making those memories.

Jessa was not happy about running, but I made her try it anyway. We even got a blue ribbon on this and candy at the end, but it didn't improve her mood. She didn't run in anymore races that day. :)

Happy birthday, Lydia Hope!

I'm so glad I got to see you on your birthday. I missed seeing your two older sisters on their birthdays because I was 1300 miles away, so this was very special for me.

Happy birthday, Grandma Lucy!

My amazing grandma turns 91 years young today! I spent many, many hours with my grandma when I was growing up. She has been a constant source of joy in my life, and I'm so thankful to the Lord for her. I'm also thankful to be able to be back close to her again...only a few blocks away!! Happy birthday, Grandma. I love you!!

Hannah's 8th birthday

My middle baby turned 8 on September 1st. I'm a little behind in posting pics from the day, but better late than never. :) It was a school day, so she still had to go to school. But we took chocolate cupcakes to her class later in the afternoon so she could celebrate with her classmates. Except dumb me...I forgot to take the camera for that part! Oh well. Later in the day, my parents and grandma came over, and we had a nice family birthday celebration for her. It was a great time.
