Update

Unfortunately, I don't have any house updates yet. Not a lot of progress has been made in the past couple weeks. We're making a trip to Wichita on Saturday to hopefully pick out some flooring, at least for the living room if nothing else. Kevin and my dad attempted to strip the floors and basically realized it was a way bigger job than we'd expected. There are layers upon layers of paint, and we noticed that some of the boards are cracked and would need to be replaced. So we decided to not refinish the wood floors. I think we're just going to go with laminate in most of the downstairs...we'll see. We're learning to live in this temporary and unfinished stage, and I find myself more thankful each day for our home. Kevin made the comment today that "it's hard to look past the now and the mess that we're in. But we need to remember that we prayed for housing, and the Lord provided." And he's absolutely right, we need to thank and praise God for His provision, that we have a place to call home. We are blessed beyond measure, and I am SO thankful!

I'm in love

Our whole house may be in shambles right now, but there's one thing that's working perfectly and needs no "fixing up". Now, some of you may be thinking I'm crazy to be in love with my washer and dryer; however, I need to give a disclaimer here. The last four years in CA, we didn't have our own washer/dryer and had to use coin laundry in our complex laundry rooms. Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever take my w/d for granted again. It's one of those things that you don't realize how blessed you are to have it until you don't have it for a while. Anyway, I've been having WAY too much fun washing clothes the last few days. And if you ask my husband, he'll probably tell you that I'm going a little overboard because a couple times I have just sat on the floor in front of the washer and watched it do its job. :) Anyway, enough about that...I think I've made my point. "Now" pictures of the house

Okay, I've finally posted some pics of what our house looks like right now. Had we not had to tear out all the carpet, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now. However, it is what it is. So take a look at the pictures, and I'll update them periodically as we get each room finished. It might take us 5 years, but we'll get there. :)

We're in!

It's been a while, but we're finally in our new (old) home and are doing our best to get settled. We ended up having to tear out all of the carpet downstairs, so that has thrown all schedules and plans out the window. We love the house, but it's going to take a while to get it where we want it. Upon taking out the carpet, we found out that the wood floors underneath are still in really good condition. So we're going to refinish them. We have all sorts of ideas and plans for this house, and it's hard to not be able to do them all at once, but we'll get there. :) I've taken lots of pics of how it looks now and will post them when I have a chance. Then it'll be fun to give you all updates as we get each room finished. I'll try to get the "now" pics up within the next few days. Until then....
